Privacy Policy

Your privacy is very important to us. We refuse to contribute to the toxic, online culture of spam and spying.

Therefore, we never sell, trade, or give away your personal information… nor leave it lying carelessly about to be stolen. We also refuse to buy “lists” of potential subscribers. We know if people want to hear from us, they will come visit and/or subscribe–you know, the old-fashioned way.

That said, the website we use has many plugins, and some of those use cookies and/or read visitor data. Please read the details below.

Who We Are

We are a small, private partnership based in Virginia, U.S.. Our website address is: https://dgates.us.

Comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect their comment, as well as their IP address and what browser they are using (to help prevent spam).

Media & Intellectual Property

If you upload images, sounds, video, or other media to our websites, you are giving us (the Dreaming Gates Partnership and/or its assigns and descendants), a limited, nonexclusive license to display that media on our websites and archives for as long as those may exist. In doing so, you verify that you are the legal owner of said media, and have the legal right to do so. As creators ourselves, we respect your Intellectual Property rights, and emphasize that you maintain ownership of your creations. You (or the legal owner) may request that we remove said media from our websites at any time, and we will make all reasonable efforts to do so.

You should also avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract said data.

Also, be aware, we do not protect uploaded media, so the public can freely download it. Please watermark images for protection, if you so desire. In our experience, the public does not always respect Intellectual Property rights.

Cookies

When you leave a comment, that page allows you to opt-in for a cookie to save your name, email, and website info. That is for your convenience only, so that your details are available when you leave another comment. It lasts for one year.

When you visit the login page, that page attempts to set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser actually can accept cookies. That cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you do log in, the page sets up several cookies to save your login info and screen display choices. Login info lasts two days (or two weeks if you check “Remember Me”), and screen options last a year. When you log out, the page removes all login cookies.

If you edit or publish an article, the website saves an additional cookie in your browser. That cookie includes no personal data, but simply indicates the post ID of the article. It expires after one day.

Embedded Content

Articles on this site may include embedded content from other websites (e.g. videos, images, articles, and so on). Embedded content is just like a chunk of another website inside our own: it can contain its own cookies, code, and even nasty bits. It may collect data, contain tracking code, and monitor your interaction with it. (Therefore, we will try to keep embedded junk to a minimum.)

With Whom We Share Data

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Our website admins can also see it. Otherwise, our visitors’ identity is no one else’s business.

We do not sell/ trade/ give out our visitors’ information, clicks, trends, or anything else. Because that’s simply rude. We refuse to contribute to spam . . . or betray your trust.

How Long We Retain Data

If you leave a comment, we keep the comment and its metadata on our website permanently. That way we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically (instead of having them die slowly in a moderation queue).

If you register on our website, we also store the personal information you provide willingly, in your user profile. You can always see, edit, and/or delete your own information at any time. Only our website administrators can see that information.

What Rights You Have

You can always request that we remove your personal info, posts, media, and/or comments, and we will do our best to comply (within reason). However, we must exclude anything we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Conclusion

We respect your privacy. Spam + Spying = Toxic.

We work hard to protect your information. If you ever discover that one of our widgets or pages is doing something naughty, please tell us. We will fix or remove it right away!

Thank you. ~Dreaming Gates Partnership
